The Mustang ★★★

If The Mustang gets anything across to the audience, it’s that horses truly are some of the most beautiful creatures on the planet
This film feels very stagnant at times and needs some polish around the edges, but it has some great sequences
Matthias Schoenaerts in the lead role is also outstanding and whenever he explodes with anger, your attention is fully demanded
Connie Britton is barely in the film and that’s a shame, as she is the crux of the best scene of the film
In a matter of seconds, life can be changed forever, and that realization is crucial to the self rehabilitation this film wants to portray
Unfortunately, the message gets muddled at times through some odd subplots, but as this is a debut, it has some right to be rough around the edges
