So this is a case where my rating changed about three times since the credits began to roll, I was all over the place with how I felt because at first honestly I was feeling a little letdown. I did love a lot about this movie don’t get me wrong, especially the performance from Dennis Christopher as the extreme film buff who goes off the deep end and begins reenacting his favorite death scenes on anyone who bullied him. This certainly appealed to the film nerd in me and I enjoyed the kills, especially how it would flash back and forth to the movies he was trying to emulate. That first kill from Kiss of Death with the wheelchair was absolutely glorious and I had a big goofy grin the entire time (that nasty woman had it coming though haha). I felt sympathy for this character but another part of me was frustrated that I didn’t know barely anything about him—like why does he even enjoy film besides the obvious reason of just wanting to escape reality? I’m probably being too nit-picky but I didn’t 100% buy into his motivations and I know it wasn’t because of the performance. I still had a great time with Fade to Black, I think I’m just annoyed more at myself that this didn’t hop right over to my favorites list like I believed it would. I’m sticking with my rating for now because I had an absolute hoot watching this despite some of the small problems I had.🎬📽
