Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm ★★★½

Jagshemash. Borat Subsequent Moviefilm continues to tell the story of the Kazakh TV journalist named Borat, as he travels back to America with his fifteen year old daughter. The timing of its release couldn’t be more relevant, with the upcoming U.S. election and the still booming COVID-19 cases in the United States, as the film pokes fun of America’s conservative values and the overall handling of the pandemic. The satire was totally amped up to the max, with the hilarious pranks scattered throughout the entire film, mocking the catastrophe that is the United States’ political climate. The darker tones of the rampant spread of fake news, misogyny, and power dynamics continues to define America and the film displayed it in such a way that is both hysterical and saddening at the same time. The balance between the political gags and the father-daughter subplot made the film worthwhile until the very end. Both Sacha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova performed spectacularly with their natural on-screen dynamics, proving that both Borat and Tutar are here to stay. Chenquieh

Also, fun fact: the full title of this film is Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which is six words longer than its 2006 prequel, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
