Another series from the MCU that had some pretty awesome moments and also plenty of "meh" moments.
Maybe it's MCU fatigue, or maybe this "New Phase/Era" of the MCU is actually struggling to get moving and capture my interest fully.
As they say in the film, “Well, there it is.”.
Naturally Roger Deakins beautifully shot this movie with a pitch perfect throwback to noire mysteries of days past.
It’s a slower paced film, dialogue very much also a nod to the classic era of film. I can understand why some may not enjoy it, but for me it was a good old fashioned mystery with some hints at deeper subject matter that gives you a little something to chew on after the credits roll.
Yeah it’s longer. Yeah it gives a lot more back story. Yeah it removed most of the humor, making it a much more serious movie where the stakes felt higher. And yeah the villains looked better.
Was it better? In my opinion no. Not better, just a much longer take that was different in tone.
Let’s not pretend this is what would’ve hit theaters originally were it not for the tragedy that caused him to step away from the film…
