Rurouni Kenshin Part II: Kyoto Inferno

    ★★★½

i’m having a blast! performances by every single cast member is memorable and commendable, and i have to give a shoutout to all the kid actors in here. the times i got goosebumps from watching this were mostly due to the incredible performances by the kids! the portrayal of such raw emotions… i have no other words except wow.

i would have given this a 4 star because i’m glad i agree with many other reviews that this definitely lives…

    Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins

didnt know this was based on an anime!! i went in knowing absolutely nothing and very much enjoyed my time. i was doubtful going into this cause personally, action movies have a 60:40 failure-success rate when it comes to entertaining me, especially more so if it’s a historical-based plot. more times than not, i’m bored and on my phone instead of watching the film, but this pleasantly surprised me! maybe it’s a bit of pretty people advantage cause kenshin is…

one of my top 3 studio ghibli movies, without a doubt. i feel so, so much for this film. i very obviously cried — is there even a need to ask? maybe because i, myself, am currently going through a phase of uncertainty and movement in my life, but this filled me with such bright-eyed hope for tomorrow that i badly needed. i saw myself in both arrietty and sho at the end, looking into the horizons of their future…

i think the ending ruined it for me, so i’ll pretend he never went back to fight the guy. i personally think it would have hit harder if we, as the audience, were left just as anxious as he was to keep waiting for han until the day he finds him. i liked the fact that he trained himself up as he waits for han to reach him, very badass. him going to fight han is somehow less badass than…

now what is up with studio ghibli and the incest 😭 lay off it a bit, my guy… i don’t know how to feel cause i spent the entire movie shipping the two and thinking, “damn, this is just a gay kid’s fantasies with her imaginary girlfriend. we’ve all been there.” but then, it turns out to be her mf GRANDMA ????

i did tear up a few times at the end, though, so it must be doing something right.…

yet another movie about an evil white man. we all saw it coming and i’m bored at this point. like what was the reason of making this movie.. what was the message? 🥲 feminism and independence at the very end? there are many other ways of doing it, though, so why use trauma inflicted on 2 women to bring out that message??

    Interview with the Vampire

    ★★

can’t confidently say i enjoyed watching this. had a lot of expectations going in cause it’s supposedly a must-watch and my friend hyped it up, but i was unpleasantly underwhelmed lol. i can’t tell if this is serious or self-aware. if it was made to be taken seriously, i HAVE to laugh. i couldn’t take this seriously at all, so the entire time watching, i told myself it’s a self-aware comedy and it made it a bit more bearable to…

    The Lighthouse

    ★★½

    me no understand ❤️

maybe i’d give this a higher rating once i read the analyses and stuff to get the meaning of everything, but like… from first watch, i have to admit i was bored and kept wondering when it would end or when the punchline or twist would happen. a bit too art-house for my tiny brain to comprehend, but the shots are pretty and i found the accent to be very interesting, which may have been the…

forgettable villain but knightley and the little kid made up for it, so it’s all good. not as good as the first 2, but a decent third film, i suppose. i personally think the franchise didn’t deteriorate as quickly as most others. they luv using the very real conflict in south central asian countries as a plot point for a white man in an iron suit to fix, and it shows. like i know technically, the orange just set it…

mindblowing VFX and CG !! honestly, most of this was just art porn. if u’re not a fan of the plot or the mcu, i’d still recommend watching this just for the special effects and all the incredible work that went into this movie. not to mention tom holland’s amazing performance (i am extremely biased in that i want him to make out with me) and the appearance of the other spidermen <3 i enjoyed the 3 of them working…

i really tried to like it, but i think scarface is just not for me.. i do acknowledge the great talents that contributed to the making of this film, having made this sophisticated movie back in the 80s, but i was a bit bored (i fell asleep halfway through). i feel like i wasted 3 hours of my life watching men fight. if i wanted to do that, i would have just watched pacquiao matches. however, i do like the…
