Alex Holmes’s review published on Letterboxd:
task 20: A film where a main protagonist is a long-haired male. Mullets are encouraged.
Plot isn't the point in "Dazed and Confused". The point is to have a rocking good time and boy does Richard Linklater's film deliver. In the best high school comedy of all time, Linklater follows a group of teenagers as they embark on a night of booze, drugs, and more booze. They don't come out the other end in handcuffs; they emerge as the most likeable group of losers ever assembled in one movie.
The best soundtrack of all time, Matthew McConaughey role, and 70's-set movie all in one package? Count me in.
This is one for the ages that I will be watching over and over again. It's funny, poignant and entertaining. What more could you ask for?
Let me end with an exchange between me and somebody who didn't like "Dazed and Confused":
Me: Say, man, you like da movie?
Other guy: No, not for me, man.
Me: It'd be a lot cooler if you did.
