    oddly i hadn't seen this all the way through before and gave it another shot after enjoying Devs. Remakably similar themes, but Devs has similar but much better photography and a more convincing tech CEO in Nick Offerman.

    I hadn't realized that this is where TV Westworld got all its ideas and its entire aesthetic.

    What's worse is I have met a couple less desperate Lou Blooms working in the software industry.
    In many ways Lou is a less affluent Patrick Bateman.

    The Hobbit trilogy severely cut down into a good (although not great) movie. This edit by Maple Films dramatically improves upon the unwatchable tripe released to theaters by eliminating the goofiest crap. Gone is the worst of the barrel riding, almost all of Tauriel and Legolas, the orcs vs Thorin, the Thorin prologue, the dragon chase and so much more. What's left is mostly book faithful and edited to preserve continuity and narrative and improve pacing.

    Charlise Theron as The Highlander seemed like a good concept, but this one needed a better script, lots of cutting in the editing room and a first rate action director to succeed.

    Gregg Rucka has penned some of my favorite comics, but his screenplay is pretty bad, not just on a structural level, but many of the individual lines are quite awful and should've been rewritten by the cast and crew on the spot. The vampire genre often titillates with…
