Part grief, part PTSD, part Vietnam condemnation. Equally terrifying and heartbreaking. Every single actor elicits exactly what they're supposed to from the viewer. Danny Aiello, as usual, is a literal angel.
Even a sad sack can complete impossible tasks. Oates practically commands our empathy which allows us to connect to the film on an emotional level. Sam P brings the giant manly balls which allows us to pump our fists and scream expletives.
