Such a waste of a good franchise potential! I loved Del Toro’s original which made such a ridiculous concept a lot of fun! This however just turns it into a joke. The writing is terrible with some god-awful rolling eyes dialogue (I cannot emphasize enough that the use of cliched lines is beyond ridiculous!) and John Boyega doing his best Idris Elba impression. He is shoe-horned into the story as the son of Marshall Stacker Pentecost having not been mentioned…
I am seeing this movie for the first time today and all I can say is that I hang my head in shame for allowing it to be this long.
The music of Ennio Morricone, the writing, acting, cinematography and direction are flawless. Toto's love of movies is something I can emphatise with more than you know and the realisation that life is much harder in reality than it is in the movies is all too familiar.
