Alan Mattli’s review published on Letterboxd:
Very torn on this one. On the one hand, it's full of gorgeously maximalist, frequently incomprehensible mayhem, incredible camera movements (leave it to Michael Bay to make drone shots seem weirdly artful), and thoroughly unhinged directorial choices. On the other hand, I don't think these elements are enough to sustain a 135-minute car chase – especially not if that car chase is so self-serious, and which features no characters you particularly care for, lacks a truly outstanding set piece, and that had me leave the cinema with a headache.
But in the end, I think I'm still coming down on the pro side, not least because I want to live in a world where these kinds of nonsensical, overdramatic, practical-effects-heavy action movies with an actual stylistic vision behind them exist.
