ZFF 2022 #8
You come away with a greater appreciation for the Kraffts' life and work, even if the film is a little too insistent that you do: Miranda July's breathy platitudes hammer a theme into place that would probably have emerged more forcefully with a more hands-off approach. That said, there's still a lot to love here, as the film's subject matter – a beautiful, sad, awe-inspring story that comes with the imagery to match it – consistently outshines its somewhat bumpy execution.
