Nimona

Nimona ★★★★

It's a pity this pulls its punches in the end, opting for rather conventional reconciliation after setting up a much more daring, politically thorny way of dealing with institutional rot. Then again, this being my main complaint of a movie like this is probably good sign. Often uproariously funny, expressively animated – continuing the Spider-Verse trend of making clashing styles work for you – and very touching in its character work, also thanks to Riz Ahmed and Chloë Grace Moretz proving themselves to be extremely capable voice actors.
