Pleasure

Pleasure ★★★★

Frank, refreshingly unsqueamish, and wryly funny. Feels like a more overtly femimist companion/21st-century update to Boogie Nights, acknowledging the allure and (pardon) the pleasures of the porn world without sugarcoating how inextricably linked they are to patriarchal structures, institutionalised misogyny, rape culture, and all-American capitalism. Also, props to Thyberg for not staging this as fly-on-the-wall ethnography but for visually leaning into the milieu's glossy, eerily clean surfaces.
