At this point, I doubt Seidl knows anymore what exactly he's satirising (other than a vague sense of cringy Austrianness), but I'd be lying if I said Rimini was completely ineffective. Yes, it's starting to fray heavily towards the end, and it loses control of how it conceives of Richie's daughter almost immediately, but the mood is undeniable. Towering turn by Michael Thomas too.
