Locarno Film Festival 2022 #7
Pretty awful. Moves seamlessly between nauseatingly saccharine and mind-numbingly inane – thanks to a script that seems hell-bent on ticking every slot on the drama cliché bingo card – and features some spectacularly incoherent editing. What saves it from complete failure are Polly Morgan's cinematography, which makes great use of marshland sunsets, and the moments of humanity Daisy Edgar-Jones and David Strathairn can wring from their respective characters.
