Let's get a few things out of the way up front:
- I'm a huge DC fan, it's my world of choice.
- I'm a Zack Snyder fan
- I'm a Man of Steel fan
This movie is designed and made for me. BvS is almost everything I wanted. I think it's well executed, but just not perfectly.
Acting by all is on point - my only exception is Eisenberg as Lex. He's kinda all over the place, and I don't know how I feel about it. Affleck and Cavil are great, and Gadot just as awesome as I expected.
Synder's aesthetic and just overall feel and palette in this film is A+ for me. There's shots in this movie that (similar to Watchmen), are a comic page on screen. Even the opening scene we've seen a million times of the Wayne's being gunned down feels like a comic on screen, with each slow motion cut a new panel on the page.
The action scenes are fantastic, especially Batman's. This is how I've ALWAYS wanted him to fight. The choreography was always a major pain for me in the Nolan trilogy (especially TDKR). I'm not full on board with Batman killing without giving us some justification yet, but I'm in for the ride and to see something new.
My big fuck yes is that "Knightmare" scene. The one shot fight of Batman in a fucking trench coat with parademons flying down - fuck yes. The fear in Batfleck's eyes when Superman is pissed - fuck yes. The Darkseid omega symbol and the Mad Max apocalyptic world - fuck yes. The Flash coming through time to warn Bruce Wayne, asking if he's too soon, warning him about the future while memories of this alternate time timeline fold in - FUCK YES!!!
The major pain points for me were the editing/pacing; it jumps all over the place. Luthor's motivation is questionable or borderline unknown. I'm not big on CGI fights, but I think it was handled pretty well in the Doomsday fight. The plugs for future movies were so shoe-horned in. Why is Luthor naming and giving them logos?
