I was eating my breakfast while watching it, and at one point the rain transitioned into the night sky and I was so stunned by it I literally stopped with the spoon full of cereal halfway to my mouth
Despite being the 4th worst film in the MCU according to Metacritic, DSitMoM has STILL grossed close to a billion dollars worldwide. The show must, and will, go on. I may die tomorrow, I may die in 80 years. The one certainty is that regardless of when it happens, Disney will still be producing Marvel films.
So call me a cynic, but I can't even find hope in this film and the way it so nonchalantly casts aside it's Marvelisms…
Some of the representations left a verrry sour taste (looking at you, whoever wrote Miss Mann)
But, the Wayans clearly have a huge amount of talent and I was giggling my way through this. Aside from the comedy, it's an effective slasher mystery.
I looked at my dog halfway through this, and she looked at me, and I asked her if she was a paid actor.
When I watched this the first time, I considered it perfect.
Now I've watched it a second time, I consider it a masterpiece.
There are sequences in this film that left me floored and unable to breathe. There are shots that were captured by dreams. The sound design is so meticulous that David Lynch is looking at his films and thinking "wow, this sounds crap". The music is a gift from beyond everything. There is not a single flaw with this film.
I hope this is a film that is taught and discussed for decades. It is truly spectacular.
