IT'S LIKE SPACE, BUT WATER
Underwater was a very well put together sci-fi horror that plays it entirely safe. The tropes, the screenplay, all very typical, and you've probably seen elements of the entire film elsewhere. This is not to say it's not good. It achieved what it set out to do, and that's to create a claustrophobic creature feature with tension and suspense as it's main focus. Nothing more, nothing less, and it was good at doing that one thing. Don't expect carefully crafted characters, rather, it's a rollercoaster ride of thrills and spooks.
...Also I still think Kristen Stewart is a stiff actor. Sorry.
