Wanted to wait to give this a rating until I saw it a second time, since the first time was a horrible theatre viewing experience.
It was good, but for some reason I just didn’t really feel as much as I expected to until the last 15 minutes or so. I felt a little detached, like the filmmaking didn’t give me a clear enough sense of how important this relationship was to both of them. The scene with the Dad is my favorite, it’s so beautifully written and performed. And of course the whole design aesthetic of this movie, music included, is one I would happily inhabit.
