Midsommar doesn't reach the near perfect beats and emotion of Hereditary, but it is still quite the creative achievement. The photography, production design, and especially the original score/folk hymns are all bursting at the seams with distinct deviceful vision.
Aster channels Zulawksi and Russell through a descent into surrealist madness....which may not be everyones cinematic cup of tea, but I live for it.
Midsommar will most likely not be for most viewers, but Aster delivers big time for hardcore genre heads.
