Hong Sang-soo never fails to intrigue me and I always watch his newest work as soon as I can get my hands on it and have a free night with no obligations early the next morning, cause his movies makes a great drinking companion and it's obligatory to get as regretfully drunk as most of his characters do in each and every film.

His latest - or at least I think so, since he probably has made another one in…

Saw and have always seen the English version that Norwegian television cropped to shit back in the day, but regardless it’s still amazing with the iconic “mom is home” hit and other bangers. Just a good amount of fun. Have got my hands on the Russian version and took a sneak peak just to compare, it’s wide screen at least and it seems after some side by side to actually have been filmed in the different languages, and it seems…

    The Bow

    ★★★½

Any reasonable person will immediately acknowledge the messed up grooming and abusive elements of the film, but the movie also recognizes this, so it doesn't hurt the movie im(humble)o. The bow I guess represent some balance between beauty and the ugly side of things.. man .. love.. idk really. Anyways you see the roller-coaster of emotions the characters suddenly have to go through and it's great. Idk it's good, it's certainly fucked up, but that's Kim Ki-Duk for ya, and I think It should get more attention from you folks out there.

Would have worked better as a shorter anthology episode like Black Mirror. Could’ve also worked better if they removed the memory flashbacks and hook twists along the way and emphasized more on the human elements and psychological effects of being confined in a place like that.

Felt they totally lost focus at some point, should have been MUCH more of a drama about their whole situation. I expected something a lot worse and it really created a lot of discussion in the room, so good for those reasons I guess haha. I feel a movie like this really depends on you having other people in the room to bounce shit off on.

  • Seaspiracy

    Seaspiracy

Hard to get a grasp on what message they are trying to convey and feels too preechy. Didn’t love the whole go vegan as a solution, that seems like pushing the dirt under a rug kinda deal.

But for sure the movie gives you the creeps and you don’t really want to eat fish for a week, and that they shed more light on the whole slavery in fishing was good. I wish they focused more on that as the movie wrapped up.
