The Crimson Kimono ★★★★½

Wowowowooww this is a really really good romantic drama dressed up as a murder mystery, with the crux of the story falling on how sudden recognition of "difference" affects a 1950s Japanese American cop's relationships. But really the best thing for me is that the two main women characters are both artists, one of whom is a wise-cracking, hard-drinking Abstract Expressionist. So some topics I haven't really seen covered in mainstream 1950s movies, basically, which is rad.
