"Yeah, that's perfect. Chicks love a father figure, keep playing that card!"

Yeah... hanging a lampshade on how uncomfortably the other films have aged while still doing the same sort of uncomfortable crap doesn't make it much better, guys.

    The Birds

"I hardly think a few birds are going to bring about the end of the world."

There really is lot to appreciate about The Birds. Hitchcock's answer to the monster movie is skin crawlingly suspenseful in the lead up to every bird attack, and the attacks themselves are so visceral in that you can almost feel the panic of being swarmed. The avoidance of so many horror tropes of the day also makes it surprisingly unpredictable. My major nitpick would be that I found myself getting impatient with the slow burn buildup of the first act.

“It’s a revolution, Tom. We may have to hurt somebody’s feelings.”

Sorkin dialogue needs a specific kind of actor to pull off convincingly. Sacha Baron Cohen might be one of the all time best at it.

    "You broke my smolder!"

I don't know what it says about my upbringing or whatever, but Mother Gothel and her evil manipulative parenting is the only thing that's ever made me flip off a Disney movie.
