One of the finest cult comedy films ever made. On the surface the plot seems somewhat thin, but the film is far more concerned with portraying the end of the 60s against the end of a friendship, neither of which can realistically continue. The two leads are both marvellous in the roles, especially Grant who despite being T-total, manages to give one of the greatest portrayals of a drunk there has ever been, and his delivery of the soliloquy from Hamlet at the end is equally fine. It's wealth of quotable lines, wonderful performances and interesting analysis of the period means that this film still endures today and will doubtless continue to do so.
