Witt can't capture Anderson's crisp, plastic gracefulness but he sure can capture a semblance of his chaos. Ultimately very scattershot in narrative terms, takes until the second half that the stakes and investment coalesces; on the basis of how much fun stupid bullshit packed in, however, it gets an unexpected wacko pass. We all know this series can do better, though, believe it or not.

The most pog-worthy movie of the year.
Starts off as a fascinating puzzle box horror mystery before turning into straight-up anime. James Wan goes buckwild in the visual and plot directions, probably the most formally audacious live-action release I've seen so far this 2021.
That's all I can say for now.
Check it out blind, and prepare to cackle with glee.
