I’m not a person who changes one’s avatar often, but this time I changed to Guts because of Miura’s masterpiece Berserk.

The truth is, although there’re many imperfections, I still wanna rate it a 4.5/5 because I’m obsessed with this story. Why didn’t I just give it a five-star? Well, if I didn’t go to watch the manga after finishing four episodes, I’ll definitely rate it a full 5/5 on Letterboxd. However, after I finished the anime part in the…

This documentary simply changes my view of what documentary is, what is the authenticity in documentary filmmaking, and and how can a documentary be authentic. After spending a semester learning the history of documentary films, I just want to argue that: filmmakers should not aim to present an ultimate truth in their works, but should aim to demonstrate a certain kind of cinematic truthfulness, which could be achieved by connecting their own narratives represented by the narrations with multiple narratives represented…

I’m sorry, but I have to rate it a five-star because:

    1. Watched it on the cinema screen and the sound effects were TERRIFIC.

    2. Felt like my 12-year old childhood dream has been fulfilled by this movie.

    3. When my just-end finals and moving out of my dorm alone are like double nightmares for me, I really need such a movie to cheer me up.

In short: Thank you Ridley Scott. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Seriously…what have I just seen…?
I’ve been looking forward to this movie since last year, and today I get a lecture: never trust the trailer of the film and the rating. I love the cinematography, the costume design and the score, BUT the whole story is so scattered that they resemble CG clips from video games which only show the most exciting part of a story, and this made the film so emotionally confusing and boring. Welcome to National Geographic documentary of Nordic landscapes…😅😅😅

    “This is a dream.”
    “And you are?”
    “Not I.”

I LOVE it in spite of the immaturity of the storytelling. The costume design and cinematography are so stunning, and they doesn’t provide us with an traditionally exotic side of Africa, neither do the settings or the music, and I really appreciate that. The lyrics in the music are also provoking, which seems to be accusations to modern day technology, violence, and mechanized society.

Btw I was so surprised of whom I saw as the producers on the crew list…
