First I want to say that I really like Mark Ruffalo but in this particular role there was something pained and undeniably awkward about the whole act. It became mildly distracting to me, I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who felt that way.
Aside from that Spotlight to me had an powerful slow burn, although I knew what the film was about there were countless moments where I, just like The Boston Globe, had no idea what I was looking at until it was revealed. It's pretty tense and pretty dark with well fleshed out characters. The whole thing is made pretty wonderfully made too.
