It has been a single day but Robert Eggers has very quickly become one of my favourite directors. The Lighthouse is just brilliant. We see two lighthouse keepers on a remote island and watch a descent into madness. The stylistic choices here are truly amazing. The lighting, the sound usage, and even the square screen contribute to the feeling of being trapped at the lighthouse. I'm also so impressed with both Willem Dafoe's and Robert Pattinson's performances. Definitely a film to revisit.
