    The comparison feels inevitable, so I’ll get it over with right out of the gate. This is what I was hoping “Beautiful Boy” would be. 

    The biggest strength of this film’s screenplay is its time frame. All of this happens over the course of just shy of 24 hours. I think it makes it so much easier to feel close to these characters and the situations they are going through because you’re in it as much as they are.

    I don’t know why people hate this so much. I mean, I definitely get that it’s not for everyone, but I can’t imagine hating it. I actually loved it; I had so much fun watching it.     ‘Fantastic Beasts’ has a problem. At first I thought it was money, then I thought it was brand fatigue or overexcitement to include everything or bad writing or director exhaustion or any of a number of things. Now I realize that its problem is some combination of all of those things- a little of each that amounts to a lot.
