MCU Rewatch Marathon - #21

"...Part of the journey is the end..."

To quote The Smashing Pumpkins, "the end is the beginning is the end."

There is a long journey to Endgame - eleven years and twenty-two films to be exact (though we skipped The Incredible Hulk this marathon around). This time we decided to mess with the order of things a bit by watching the final two Avengers films together as the series' capstone. Watching these two subsequently gave me an appreciation for the set up the series had been planning since its beginning and for how this film in particular satisfactorily wraps up so many characters' storylines and loose ends so damn well. The chaos that we're given in Infinity War is neatly tied up in an tightrope walk of a bow that shouldn't work at all, but by a sheer miracle of big budget filmmaking, it does. And that we come back around to Tony's quote that ends Iron Man, and seeing that line in a whole new light, makes this the single most satisfactory entry in the MCU.

"And I... Am... Iron Man."
