Leighton Trent’s review published on Letterboxd:
A small stakes western crime noir that opens up into something much bigger than itself. This is a film purposely fashioned after the financial crisis of 2008 as the barren West Texas setting mirrors the desperation and desolation of our characters and we are swallowed whole by it all.
There are no gimmicks here. There are no wasted shots here. There are no frills here. This is No Bullshit Filmmaking and one of the more unheralded pieces of film (despite its somewhat random Best Picture nomination) from one of the stronger years in cinema in the recent past.
