Leighton Trent’s review published on Letterboxd:
Positive: Satisfyingly stunning in its visual scope, the film just bounces right off the screen. I felt like my eyes and mind, color-wise, were engaged throughout the film. Also, Black's charisma is so over the top wonderful (as usual) that you can't help but fall for Po.
Negative: I found the plot to be ordinary and quite predictable. (It's that usual coming of age story.) I also found it hard to believe that they recruited such a high profile voice cast and only really used Black and Hoffman; the others did not have many lines.
Verdict: So, while it's charming and funny, and cool, it doesn't come close to its in-theater nemesis Wall-E, or the other Pixar films. Cool doesn't makes up for something timeless and meaningful. I don't have anything against it, it's just the same old thing put in a pretty, new and polished package.
