as an asian who's struggled with grief, loss, and the notion of afterlife, i reallyyyyyyy wanted to enjoy "after yang" more than i honestly did. maybe i set my expectations too high after reading all of the letterboxd reviews but i did not get much out of this. since i'm so biased, i'm hoping that i may revisit this movie at a later date and have it finally click. i'm hoping that maybe it's not the movie that's the issue,β¦

paul dano hides so much evil and lunacy in his fake, sympathetic smile and it sickens me. he looks like wes anderson's puppet wet dream come-to-life. his whole aura screams woe-is-me and 'nice guys always finish last π‘'. he is so vile. watching this movie was my villain origin story

insane, super cheesy, but possibly the first filipino movie iβve seen in a while that challenges the bitchy fighting rivals trope and sends out a message of female empowerment instead so i'll allow it

from a technical standpoint, you can really see the improvement in the movies after the first one, so props to the studio for that. otherwise, im not afraid to admit it... I LOVE THIS TRASHY YA DYSTOPIAN SERIES
