my introduction to hong’s overwhelmingly humdrum metafiction stories and i loved it! he used the simplest concept — second chances — to re-examine the gravity of our conversations. enjoyed the domesticity of all the scenes, enjoyed the clumsy flirting of the two leads, enjoyed all the minute details that would chart the course for their ending; all in all, a very easy, sincere movie to consume!

ik this is a commentary on capitalism and all but can i j say i dont think boredom is a valid enough reason to go from hey lets bet on horses to hey lets bet on human lives

any film that requires me to pause it repeatedly throughout and do a wikipedia deep dive in an attempt to understand the references is a good film in my book

quietly comedic, all-too-realistic, nowhere near perfect, never had to be. shithouse doesn't try to be grandiose in meaning: it lets itself be clumsy, awkward, stumbling from one scene to the next, and that's what makes it so endearing.

cooper raiff has a great eye for verisimilitude in dialogue — can't wait to see what he does next because i felt embarrassingly represented on screen by this movie
