Better than Seven Samurai??!! Yes.
There is nothing this film does wrong.
It’s split into two, separate parts. What this film succeeds most at is keeping your attention. Each section could be a whole separate genre, and you think to yourself halfway through the film “what now? There is still an hour left??”
As you keep watching, you just become so immersed in what the film is trying to accomplish
^^I also added Kurosawa to my favorite directors list. He has impressed me so much over the past week as I have been binging his films. I hope to knock a majority of them out before this week’s end. I highly encourage you all to look into him
