"Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!"
Kung Fu Panda is a PERFECT underdog film, kung-fu film, animated film, action film, and DreamWorks film.
The greatest thing about this film is that EVERYTHING pays off, and I mean it! The story is driven by pure emotion, every action and decision. Tai Lung and Shifu's story is told in a very sentimental way, Po's arc and relationships are beautiful and encapsulates everything about what an underdog story should be like, and the Po v. Shifu dumpling scene is one of the best scenes I have seen in any animated film...EVER. I bring that scene up because, yes, it has a payoff in the final battle. It is just amazing to watch that final battle and see every ounce of training Po went through, to see it all pay off.
The characters, animation, action scenes, and writing are also all amazing.
I feel the biggest issue with the film is the rushed pacing, but other than that, there isn't too much wrong with the film. Maybe it is a little too goofy, but I think that adds to the charm of the film.
