AFI Fest 2018: Movie #12
“I don’t wanna see what happens next.”
A story in five acts? Her Smell is an intense, overstimulating ride that only becomes more difficult when it finally slows down. This is a symphony of chaos, the electric soundscape making that claim even more literal. Moss is better than ever, and to me, that’s a high bar to jump over. I remember the confusion when this cast was first announced, but every piece of casting felt right to me. ARP’s philosophical dialogue is dense as always, and while this may not have the same structural balance as Golden Exits, the ideas might be better than ever. Sean Price Williams and Robert Greene’s contributions are also magnificent, but I wouldn’t have expected any less. I loved this energy.
