Like a video game cut scene that just won't end.
I don't know when Spielberg went from being a visionary to a wet blanket, but it sure as hell happened. I think I'd be more forgiving of the missteps of Ready Player One had it been even worse, had it taken some amount of risks. You could take countless screen caps from this film and I wouldn't be able to differentiate them from The Post. Spielberg is never going to put out a pile of trash, but at least that would be more exciting than another lifeless studio picture. Reliability from a filmmaker isn't necessarily a good thing, and this just proved that for me (and my very disappointed father). Did anyone actually care about any of these characters?
