Suspiria

Suspiria ★★★★

I wanted a hell of a lot more gore, but the burning tension throughout and ridiculousness definitely worked for me. Similar to Possession, this is a great instance of emotion being given more weight than anything else. I don’t deny the captivating nature of the story and all its politics, of course, but I wasn’t even looking for answers to the mystery. Several of Klemper’s scenes felt too tangentially related to the main plot, causing the act structure to feel fairly unnecessary, and that was definitely where I felt how long this was. For the body of the runtime, though, I was just so curious about where this headed. I loved the chaos of it.
