It's the lack of non-digetic sound which first strikes me, a film where the soundtrack of the hero's journey of a protagonist is absent. The cacophony of real life says something far different than what non-digetic audio would like to deliver as a narrative.

It's the moral dilemma at the heart of the movie - what if you find a bag of gold? Would you return it? And…

I needed to watch this twice.
Not because I couldn't comprehend all the information coming at me, because that is obvious and clearly impossible to understand.

In the first go, you stay for the visuals. Juxtaposing cutouts, scribbles, diagrams to create a so called narrative which gives a very mesmerizing and trippy vibe.

On the second go, you go for the narration. You listen to the sound, which is smooth like velvet and teaching a philosophy through the intricacy of…

I think that shock of an ending, to completely subvert the absolutely tropey form of thriller, works because of how sudden it is. The director's control of the material and the suspensful tone is offset by the almost interminable slow pace. However the paranoia experienced and the inevitable gaslighting of the protagonist feels far too real. It could have been a lot better but it is still watchable in its shallowness.

The overwhelming popularity of Cricket in India is a vicious cycle as the ever widening audience is influenced by the media’s solipsistic coverage of the sport. This ensures that developments and progress made to any other sport in the country is almost buried to the larger audience. Thus interesting stories like the one documented in “Jungle Cry” are met with curiosity and interest by the audience. It is sadder to comprehend that the 2007 T20 World Cup win dashed any…

The story of a deaf knight and a siren of myth attracted to each other. She because he is unaffected by her scream, he because she is a mythological creature adorned with treasure. What occurs in Alberto Mielgo's 18 minute short with an almost manic camera work moving in and out of focus, is the deconstruction of myths and reconstructing it through a far violent and haunting lens. The snatching of the treasure is eerily reminiscent of the snatching of…

So ends the darker, edgier version of Stranger Things.

The final part of this trilogy is structured unconventionally. The first half of the film takes place during 1666, and it is very much a slower paced version, a tribute to folk horror. And with most folk horror, the horror is more of a sweeping dread, it builds and builds, the…
