It sounds like a Harry Potter movie, it looks like a Harry Potter movie, but it's not a Harry Potter movie and that's OK. Fantastic Beasts is just as magical and full of adventure. Eddie Redmayne is perfectly cast as Newt Scamander. It's a world filled with muggles (no-majs), magical creatures and spells. The visuals are stunning. The film does suffer from a few pacing issues that cause the story to drag in some places. But the film is enchanting enough to cast a spell on even the most cynical moviegoer.
Terminator: Dark Fate takes so many cues from Terminator: Judgment Day that you'll likely get deja vu. And the story is a clunky mess. But the action sequences are over-the-top and plentiful in a way that makes this film entertaining. Fans will be split on this one, but most will enjoy Dark Fate for what it is--a fun nostalgic ride.
FORD v FERRARI is a fun, fast and heart-pounding ride that roars to a satisfying finish. Matt Damon and Christian Bale both deliver fantastic performances in this "inspired by a true story" that's full of heart.
The one downside is the film's unwillingness to veer outside the safety of the oh-so-familiar biopic territory.
