I think I really love films that raise existentialist questions and aren't afraid to get a little abstract, so the final scene basically made this film for me. We talked about how this is one of the first films in history to depict AI and in a way that was so ahead of its time. Gonna have the visuals on my mind for a while. Also, the apes and HAL, big mood.
Do I think this is an incredible movie? Hell yes. Do I understand it? Not a chance. A film that almost necessitates a second, third, fourth watch.
