DAMIEN CHAZELLE HAS LOST IT
This is one big, chaotic, all-over-place, mess and I absolutely loved it. It's outrageous, something to its own detriment. It is one of those rare films that captures the love of cinema in a bottle, then just spills its contents all over the place for what is nothing short of a 190 minute fiesta. I cannot comprehend what this thing that I've just watched is, and I can't even say whether its good or just…
I mean... WHAT HAPPENED MARVEL. I loved you. These used to be reliably good action movies, with good pacing, an appropriate amount of humor when needed, and good CGI.
This is not what I loved.
The hole left from Chadwick Boseman's death is felt in every frame of this film. And the film uses it very well, unite the characters with this singular feeling of loss.
That is... when it uses it. Cus Wakanda Forever cannot decide on a tone…
Holy shit. Okay I see it now. Expertly paced, acted, shot and all around put together by Fincher. This thing has an infectious energy injected in its every second, one you can feel taking over you, speeding up everything around and within you to be at par with just how quickly things are moving. An extremely interesting real-life history surrounding one of the most important men of the 21st century brought to life so vividly by a director who I do not enough credit. Wow.
A heist movie without the actual heist. Tarantino's debut shows a unrefined version of his style, from the music to the dialogue and violence, to present what's basically a stage play carried by the ensemble. It's simple, it's clever, it's tense, and it's extremely memorable.
