i like movies, tv, and editing. i also like lists. a very picky rater.
Although directed and written by two women, this film felt like it was written and directed by men. It felt like Gemma was nothing but a male fantasy and only solely existed so the French baker could fantasize about his favorite novel in real life, projecting onto a real person. I mean, there's actual shots where we're staring at her chest for no reason other than he is, and I don't think we ever truly got to know her, even though the movie is half told by him reading her diary. Sad. I wanted to like it.
