    this years tiff had an odd series of director's attempting to try new genres but this seems to be the most successful of them all.

    this really worked visually and pacing wise, my issue is that this type of film has been done before. it's a quiet and simple film, but it does work. charlie plummer continues to be one of the rising stars of his generation.

    this is probably my biggest disappointment of the year.

    my father koreeda isn't capable of making a "bad" movie but this is him not knowing what to do in a new genre. it *WORKS* and I appreciate his investigation on the ethics of judgement and truth but i still can't wrap my head around why he made this.

    he announced his newest film after the screening so let's hope he returns to form.
