A neat pitch (and great poster) that falls flat in execution. It feels as if production only got so far as the concept for this, without putting in any significant amount of effort to discovering or exploring either the found footage angle or the underwater angle in regards to the scares or storytelling. Most of the "scares", such as they are, are relatively indecipherable. Look to Koji Morimoto and Satoshi Kon's masterpiece MAGNETIC ROSE for a gripping and scintillating story of people exploring an abandoned place while surrounded by a hostile environment, instead.

In THE BLACK HOLE we start with a several minute overture (some lovely John Barry music) and then immediately hit the gas. A long-distance space mission finds the biggest black hole ever recorded, sustains damage, and is forced to dock with a lost Earth vessel…

Wonder Woman 1984 2020
The opening is what tripped me up first. Gone from Themyscira are the vivid locations and people we saw in the first film. Gone too, bizarrely, are the hand-crafted costumes that gave history and backstory to each character on screen. Instead we're subjected to a godawful CGI laden chase sequence with characters wearing rejected uniforms from a competition dance festival. I almost couldn't believe how cheap the unitards look in comparison to the old costumes of the Amazonian women who…

Drag Me to Hell 2009
Nasty, fun, and mean (which is importantly different than cruel, which I have very little tolerance for). Raimi loves having a good time and he loves imparting this Looney Tunes energy on to the viewer.
