    Video Murders

    More like Video Murder, singular. As long as this is set in grainy 16mm Louisiana night it’s mildly compelling - whenever it tries to focus on plot, or the 90 year long car chase in the third act, it’s an absolute disaster. Just boring beyond words - but the lead actor’s overwrought performance is kind of funny here and there.

    A bit more lively than Bubba Ho-Tep, John Dies at the End is a reality bending exercise and therefore comfortable territory for the director of Phantasm.

    I am so happy to see this unseen footage from Superman II that I find it hard to be objective. There are logistical problems to Superman’s solution to Lois throwing herself out of the Daily Planet’s window (why did no one see Clark shooting a red lazer from his eyes?), which evaporate in the Niagara falls version of this sequence from the theatrical cut.
