There was never a world where I didn't love a movie in which Michelle Pfeiffer sips martinis, chain-smokes, and has a complicated relationship with her darling New York Lonely Boy* son.
Even though it lacks a certain whimsy that's all over the original novel, this adaptation really captures the tone and spirit of the story, providing a perfect showcase for its impeccable cast. I really could've stayed with this mismatched group of lost souls for a whole other hour.
