A whip smart neo noir and Aubrey Plaza is great in it. I’m calling millennial revenge films the up and coming crime genre with a bullet. Revenge against shitty jobs & labour market conditions, unpaid internships & general lack of safety nets & opportunities. I need to think about other films that fall into this category. MORVERN CALLER is the other one that springs to mind but there must be others.
Stripped of some obviously questionable midcentury attitudes, this was actually a pretty sharp take on race in 1950s London. A fairly diverse cast, including the ground breaking black actor Earl Cameron and an uncredited Barbara Steele. Also featured some marvellous period detail & locations.
