Yes, this film is very funny... but it isn't the comedy that makes it great. Pullman gives such genuine sincerity to a completely ridiculous character that we're forced to see him as more than just a joke. As you watch the movie, you discover that Daryl Zero is a charming, quirky and, surprisingly enough, complex human being. This is what holds the film together and raises it above the standard of its already amusing exterior. Zero Effect strikes an odd but very pleasing note. It's my favorite thing Bill Pullman has ever done.
